This Week’s Grocery Shopping Finds

This Week’s Grocery Shopping Finds

You may have seen on my Instagram I did a big (solo!!!) grocery trip to Trader Joe’s and Safeway on Saturday to prep for the week ahead. Tuesday I am going back to work after 12 weeks off and I am feeling a bit anxious about it. To ease my anxiety, I made sure I got a lot of healthy convenience foods for my family and I. It’s not all ideal, but it’s better than hitting up the fast food drive-thru after a long day (which from time to time is still fine in my opinion #averagehealthymom). Below is a detailed list of this week’s grocery shopping finds. I also included a few things I found from Whole Foods a few days before.

Frozen Food

Frozen Convenience Items:

  • Kashi Blueberry Waffles

Guys, these are delicious. I almost didn’t buy them because I don’t have much self-control. They taste like blueberry muffins! I trust Kashi, and the ingredients are pretty good. They’re also gluten free, so while they are processed, they don’t contain gluten so if I do eat them, it won’t be the end of the world

  • Open Nature Uncured Pepperoni Pizza

This one just looked a tad healthier…and I don’t like thin crust so I wont be tempted to eat it 😉

  • Alexia Sweet Potato Fries

We had grilled burgers on Saturday night and I wanted to serve an easy side (in addition to veggies) for Patrick and the kids. Again, I chose these because I don’t like sweet potatoes fries and I wont be tempted to eat them.

Dairy Products

  • Whole organic milk

Patrick and the kids drink this daily. I am still going back on forth if I am eliminating dairy or not…stay tuned on what I decide lol part of me feels too restricted, but the other part feels I need to give it longer to see if it is helping!

  • Organic Shredded Cheese

We do quesadillas a lot for easy dinners. I can stock up on these without it going bad which is why I bought 3 bags.

  • Organic String Cheese

Great add-on for the kid’s lunch and a snack.

Breads/Packaged Goods

  • Hamburger buns

I didn’t buy whole wheat because those all game in an 8+ pack, and I only needed 2 buns. So I just bought the cheapest option.

  • Organic Whole Wheat Bread

I’ve tried other “healthier” brands, but Patrick doesn’t like most and I find they get really dry quick. Since I like to meal prep on Sundays, I need bread that wont get hard.

  • La Tortilla Factory Wraps

I got these for the kid’s lunches this week to change it up to make lunchmeat wraps. So far they are a huge hit!

  • Mission Tortillas

These are for Patrick, he is not really into whole wheat tortillas.

I actually got these at Whole Foods on Thursday. We have never tried them but I am hoping the kids will like them and eventually Patrick 😉

  • English Muffins

Patrick makes egg mcmuffins frequently, so these are for him.

  • Bars

We often give these to the kids as a quick snack or breakfast if we are running late. These have the lowest grams of sugars compared to all the bars I have seen at our local Trader Joes

I have a large container of raisins for at home, but I like these pre-packaged raisins for on the go and packed lunches.

  • Pouches

I typically don’t buy these as my kids can suck down way too many at once, however I wanted an extra portable snack to have on hand this week.

  • Bacon

I ran out of our Butcher Box bacon, so I found this bacon that uses honey instead of sugar. Not ideal as I would prefer sugar free options, but it will due until we receive or next Butcher Box delivery! I am adding more bacon for our next shipment since we go through bacon really fast around here!

  • Salami

I got this to bring to the Super Bowl so I would have some food that fits within my current diet.

  • Organic Ground Beef

I always like to have ground beef on hand for quick tacos, burgers, spaghetti, or lettuce wraps. Trader Joes and Safeway have good options when I run out of my Butcher Box stash.

  • A variety of things for snacks and dinner. Asparagus, blueberries, blackberries, banana, zucchini, lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, red onion, and avocado. I try to buy organic when possible and affordable. When I have to make a choice because of cost, I usually go by the dirty dozen list.

  • Beer

This is for Patrick.

This is for Patrick and I when I eat ketchup (not too often with my current diet). The kids eat ketchup that has no sugar. I have to hide the containers, otherwise they want the Heinz!

This is a crowd pleaser for our house. I find it is much cheaper from Thrive Market compared to local grocery stores. I have heard they are starting to be available at Costco!

Usually eat this as a snack or in bowls/tacos.

  • Sauerkraut

I bought this because I have heard it is good for healing your gut, however while it was not bad, I don’t know if I will be eating it.

Self Care!

  • Cute flowers

I bought myself these from Trader Joes (selfcare!). I thought the bucket was adorable!

Well, there you have it! This is a pretty typical grocery trip. I usually always visit Trader Joes and Safeway. I try to only go grocery shopping once a week, but at times I go twice.

Question for you!

  1. What type of convenience foods do you buy for your family?
  2. How often do you go grocery shopping?
