Hi!! I’m currently on a plane (with perpellers-eeeek!) leaving Bend, with a layover in Seattle and then getting back home to San Jose to see my babies!!!! As nice as it is to get away from the kids, I miss them sooo much! Our flight leaving Bend was delayed about an hour so we are missing our connecting flight in Seattle to San Jose. We planned our return home to allow time to get ready for the week while the kids are in daycare, but now we have to go for plan b (buying a ton of pre-made foods from Whole Foods) and we’ll be set! I’m so thankful for healthy convenance options when time is limited. Alaska Airlines also gave us $150 in credit because of the delay so that’s awesome!! So, in an effort to distract myself from this noisy ass plane, here is my Seattle-Portland-Bend getaway recap!
First Stop, Seattle
After the observation deck we headed back to the hotel, grabbed another latte and relaxed in our room until it was time for our dinner reservations. While waiting, it started to snow and was stunning.
We had 5:30pm reservations for dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. We started our dinner with complimentary champagne (house nice was that?!?) and we both ordered a steak, baked potato, and shoestring fries. We finished dinner with another complementary dessert. The service and food was on point and I highly recommend checking them out.
Saturday morning we leisurely woke up and went back to Bacco Cafe & Bistro for breakfast because it was SO good. The latte and breakfast was even better than the day before.
Saturday morning we took a quick flight from Seattle to Portland (it was the quickest flight ever-like 40 minutes gate to gate). I’m glad we opted to fly instead of drive because there was quite a bit of snow that fell and it was difficult to lock down a four wheel drive vehicle. In Portland we drove around quite a bit to look at neighborhoods (suburbs of Portland) and met up with family at 10 Barrel Portland. I had two glasses of a cab (I’m not really picky so I have no idea which cab it was) and had the salad with chicken. The atmosphere was really fun at the food was delicious. After dinner we headed to our cousins new apartment then to a bar near by. We didn’t spend too much time in Portland but it look really fun. We plan to go back soon to spend a weekend only in Portland to check out more!
My sister and brother in law lives in Bend and drove to Portland the night before to have dinner with family and then drove us to Bend Sunday morning. The drive was a pure winter wonderland. It was snowing all day and amazing. We dropped our bags off at my in-laws and headed for the mountain (Mt. Bachelor) where we went snowshoeing. This was my first time snowshoeing and I have determined that is definitely my snow sport! (I am not a fan of snowboarding, don’t know how to ski, and I don’t like sledding/tubing. I’m a lot of fun 😉 ) My sister in law hooked me up with this sweet yellow snow outfit, which I was happy about since the chances of me being lost in the snow would be slim since you could find me a mile away.
