2 years ago I became a (short-lived) Beachbody coach. I did it for a few months, and while it was not for me, I learned the importance of personal development in the form of books and podcasts. The team I was on really pushed for daily personal development and I LOVED it. I never listened to podcasts or audiobooks prior to this. In fact, I always found it to be such a waste of time. I started listening during my work commute (that would range from 35-60 minutes each way). Then I started to listen during chores around the house. Now I take every chance I can to listen to a great podcast or audio book.
Finding Personal Development
You can find personal development anywhere! Podcasts, books, audio books, etc… I love podcasts because they are typicaly limited to 20-60min, so it is a low commitment compared to a book. My library even rents out audio books! Check out your local library to see if this is an option too!
Making Time for Personal Development
There are soooo many ways to fit in personal development. When I am doing “mindless” activities, I am generally listening to a podcast. You can listen during your commute, shopping, cleaning, walking, etc…
My Favoite Podcasts and Books
Podcasts: I love self-help materials. Ways to improve productivity, time management, stress management, diet, etc… Now that I am in the blogging arena I am really utilizing all there is out there on working your business. Some of my favorite podcasts include; Shameless Mom Academy, Online Marketing Made Easy With Amy Porterfield, Chalene Show, and Off the Vine (more of a fun one). I am always looking for more, so if you have any suggestions please let me know!
Audiobooks: I spend more of my personal development time listening to podcasts but on occasion I love an audiobook. My favorites include; The Four Tendencies, Its Not Okay, Hands Free Mama, You Are A Badass, 10% Happier.
I have grown so much as a person from listening to FREE podcasts! Not only have I learned so many blogging and marketing tips, but I have built my confidence as a professional, friend, and mother.
